How Do You Plan Your DIY Sauna Room Design?

Are you thinking to add a sauna to your home? If you have some additional space inside your home, you can build a DIY sauna room as per your requirements. However, there’s a huge availability of pre-cut sauna packages in any size or you can do any custom modification for your sauna needs. Northern Lights Solar Solutions provides sauna packages equipped with everything to get your DIY sauna room ready.

Sauna Room

Apart from this, you should consider a few certain factors to plan out everything.

You should consider the benches.

  • When designing your sauna room, make the layout of the benches better.
  • It’s wise to put your sauna door and heater on a long wall next to each other, if possible.
  • You should keep much space aside for benches as your space permits to allow you to sit and lie down comfortably.
  • Remember that the upper bench of the sauna room will be warmer.
  • The normal depth of the bench should be 20” and the height must be 36” for the upper bench or 19” for the lower bench.
  • You can choose custom sizing to match your needs.

You should consider the ventilation.

  • Ventilation is an important aspect of a sauna room. It should be taken into account for optimal satisfaction and pleasure as well as reheating the sauna room much faster.
  • If the sauna room has a shortage of fresh hair, it might be due to insufficient or poor management of ventilation. As a result, you will feel uncomfortable inside the sauna. Further, it can lead to difficulty in breathing or a skin-burning sensation.
  • Inside the sauna room, the expanded hot air exists and contains proportionately less oxygen as compared to denser outside temperatures. Sometimes, sauna users can faint if the air is not changed regularly. So, getting the right ventilation is essential for the sauna room.
  • Generally, two ventilators should be built into the sauna walls as the amount of fresh air entering through the door while the opening is not adequate.
  • The inlet should be present below the heating unit – typically a bottom gap between the sauna door and door vent while the outlet is based on the opposite side, the ceiling or just below the ceiling,
  • It is advised to have ventilation openings with a diameter of 4 to 6 inches, taking into account the dimensions of the sauna room.

Barrel Saunas

You should plan your sauna room size.

  • You can keep the sauna room smaller than the larger one.
  • Keep space to accommodate the depth of every bench i.e. 19” each.
  • Make sure that you have designated space for the sauna heater, along with a 4-inch clearance around the front and two sides to accommodate the fence guard.
  • You can consider a smaller heater, and smaller circuit breakers in the smaller sauna room for more efficient heating.

You should consider heater size and options.

  • Northern Lights sauna room packages feature a pre-sized sauna heater for the given cubic space of the sauna room i.e. 7’ ceiling.
  • Their indoor sauna kits are available with two heating i.e. electric and infrared.
